Notices
- Student, faculty, and staff notices are sent via UNC Charlotte email.
- Non-UNC Charlotte borrowers' notices are sent via email on record.
- It is the patrons' responsibility to ensure they have the correct email and mailing address in their record because overdue notices are sent as a courtesy to the borrower, failure to receive such a notice does not excuse the borrower from the payment of fines.

Fines
The purpose of fines is not to serve as a source of revenue, but rather an incentive for responsible social behavior when using shared resources. In order to ensure maximum availability, the library sends out due date reminders through email. Fines are charged for long overdue items (60 days past due) and failure to return recalled items by the due date. Borrowers are subject to the following fines:

Paying your fines
Students
- Fines can be paid at the circulation desk during the semester in which the fines accrued.
- Fines totaling $10 or more are transferred to your student account at the end of every month.
- All fines are transferred to your student account at the end of each semester
Faculty/Staff
- Fines can be paid at the circulation desk during the semester in which the fines accrued.
- Fines totaling $10 or more will be sent to the payroll office for deduction
All other borrowers
- Library privileges are blocked until payment is received at the circulation desk.
Lost or Damaged Library Material
- If a general collection item is lost the borrower will pay $100 per item based on the following library costs:
- $65 replacement fee
- $35 processing fee
- If a laptop is lost the borrower will pay the following:
- $1400 laptop replacement fee
- $70 lost laptop adapter fee
- Other lost item costs:
- $30 lost mac VGA adapter fee
- $60 lost mac mouse fee
- Any general collection item overdue for 60 days is considered lost
- Any laptops or adapters overdue for 30 days are considered lost
- Audio/Visual materials and videos overdue for 14 days are considered lost
- The borrower is liable for replacement or repair costs of damages while items are checked out on their account
Refunds on the Return of Lost and Paid Books
- The library does not accept patron-purchased items as replacements
- Regardless of whether payment has been made for the item, the library item will remain the property of the University.
- Any person who falsely claims to have lost library material simply to retain possession can be charged for illegally possessing State property.
- Only partial refunds will be given for any item returned after payment is accepted or bill is sent to the appropriate office
- Partial refunds of $65 per item may be given if the items is less than 6 months overdue
- No refunds will be given for items that are more than 6 months overdue
