Kate DeCamp was a 63-year-old woman at the time of interview, which took place in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was born in Hamilton County, Ohio in 1916. She was educated at Bryn Mawr and was employed as a homemaker. She served in a volunteer capacity in North Carolina organizations, including most notably as president of Mecklenburg County Medical Auxiliary, on the N.C. State Board of Medical Auxiliary, and as president of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Republican Women's Club.
