Government Documents and Maps

Federal, state and local government documents are located on the 3rd floor.

 

United States Federal Documents

  • J. Murrey Atkins Library was established as a federal depository library in 1964 to serve the University and the citizens of North Carolina’s 12th congressional district.

  • The library owns many government documents printed before 1964, including some back to the 1800s.

  • We currently receive approximately 40% of materials published by the federal government.

  • Many documents are available online and have links in the library catalog to their online versions.

  • Not all federal documents are listed in the library catalog.

  • Documents contain statistics including census data, demographic data, and economic data. Subjects covered include law, current and past legislation, education, crime, countries, human rights, history, health care and more.
